DEAR RESIDENTS
During the 2003 SARS outbreak, my children were in kindergarten. Today, they and everyone in Singapore are rallying together to fight a different virus.
COVID-19 threatens our lives and livelihoods. For the next few years, the outlook for jobs has become more uncertain.
As manpower minister, I will do my best to save jobs and help workers. I am especially concerned about people in their 40s and 50s, fresh graduates and low-wage workers. To help them, we must also support employers, particularly SMEs.
My team is working hard to push out programmes under the National Jobs Council. We have the commitment and ideas to expand opportunities that can help active jobseekers.
Workfare recipients, self-employed persons and Singaporeans who lose their jobs will all get income relief. For seniors, we have enhanced Silver Support. Payouts will be higher. More will qualify.
As an MP, my duty is to look after you and your estate.
Since 2006, I have served the residents of Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. We built strong bonds and made many town improvements together. I shall miss them very much.
But I am also glad to have the opportunity to serve you in Jalan Besar GRC.
I will first get to know you. In time, we can create a more caring and attractive “kampong” together.
Please support my PAP team to make a difference in your lives.
Yours sincerely
Josephine Teo
